Nicola is a South African trained specialist anaesthetist.  Since completing her training in 2016, has been involved in international NGO projects, furthering her studies in Public Health and working under Prof Biccard on the African Surgical OutcomeS-2 Trial.

She joined the Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine Research Group at Queen Mary University, London as a research fellow in 2020 and splits her time as a consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at Whipps Cross University Hospital and as a research fellow within the Group. Her interests lie in pragmatic clinical trials and global surgery, particularly related to perioperative and critical care in low- and middle income countries.
