Following training in Manchester and Edinburgh, Iain Anderson was appointed to Salford Royal Hospital in 1995 as a general and colorectal surgeon. He has a special interest in intestinal failure and fistula, Salford being a national referral centre for complex intestinal problems following surgery.
His national interests have included ATLS, CCrISP and the re-organisation of general surgical emergency care. He led the CCrISP programme from 1994 until 2005. He is now surgical advisor to National Emergency laparotomy Audit (NELA) and Vice-President of ASGBI.
