Served on the FDA Anesthesia and Life Support Advisory Committee and Anesthetic and Analgesic Drug Products Advisory Committee. Elected fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiology, American Heart Association, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Cardiology, American and Society of Echocardiography.
In 2017, appointed an adjunct professorship from University College London and in 2019, received the Outstanding Achievement Award for perioperative echocardiography from the American Society of Echocardiography. Serves on the board for the Durham Boys and Girls Club of America.
