Desmond Sheridan is Emeritus Professor of Cardiology, National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He qualified in medicine from Trinity College Dublin and received his PhD from Newcastle University.
His research interests relate to understanding the consequences of normal and abnormal growth of the heart with a particular focus on disturbances in the electrical properties of heart muscle and the coronary circulation. His recent books have been concerned with the impact of healthcare reconfigurations on clinical research, more recently returning to the biology and evolution of the heart and its close partners.
