Mike Grocott is the Professor of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Southampton and an NIHR Senior Investigator.
He is the UK NIHR Clinical Research Network national specialty lead for Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine and Pain and chairs the board of the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia. He leads critical care research within the Southampton NIHR Biomedical Research Centre and serves as an adjunct professor of Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Centre, NC. He leads the Xtreme-Everest Oxygen Research Consortium and co-chairs the Fit-4-Surgery research collaboration. Mike is an elected council member of the Royal College of Anaesthetists where he serves as Vice-President.
He previously served as founding director of the NIAA Health Services Research Centre (2010-2016) and founding chair of the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (2011-2017).
Mike serves as a director of EBPOM CIC and EBPOM Global.
Mike has authored/co-authored more than 300 scientific papers and been awarded over £25 million in research funding.
