Mark Hamilton

Dr Mark Hamilton is a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Anaesthesia & Critical Care Medicine at St. George’s Hospital and Medical School. He is the clinical lead for the Perioperative Assessment & Planning Unit at St. George’s Hospital. He has also recently been appointed as the clinical director for critical care at St. George’s Hospital.

He has a long history of outcome related research and is a member of the Surgical Outcomes Resource Centre at UCL. He has been awarded an MD (Res) by UCL in 2012 for the development of novel methods to predict surgical outcome. Previous appointments include the Chair of the Systematic Review Group at the ESICM. He is the Co-Director of Evidence Based Perioperative Medicine(EBPOM), an organisation dedicated to improving the care of surgical patients through the application of research. He is the Editor in Chief of Perioperative Medicine and sits on the editorial board of the improving surgical outcomes group, that has been recognised by parliament for it’s contribution to improving care of the surgical patient. He is a member of the perioperative task and finish group established by the RCOA.

Mark has a strong interest in leadership and has currently completing an executive programme at the NHS leadership Academy. Outside of this he is a commissioner of healthcare as the Secondary Care Doctor to a Surrey Clinical Commissioning group.

He chairs the System Resilience Group, the Finance and Performance Committee and is a member of the Quality Committee.
