Beenu specialised in Anaesthesia from 2000. Prior to entering anaesthesia he worked as a doctor in Accident and Emergency and as a Surgeon. He has an intercalated BSc in Neuroscience and a Fellowship in Regional Anaesthesia with the European Diploma. He has published scientific papers in a number of peer reviewed journals, has presented research posters at international congresses and undertaken numerous audits of clinical practice. He has also organised courses for various groups of healthcare providers including nurses, medical students and junior anaesthetists and has acted as an examiner for Kings College School of Medicine.
He is currently working at University Hospital Lewisham as a Consultant Anaesthetist with a special interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia. Along with his clinical work and teaching he has a keen interest in hospital management and organisation; he previously sat on a number of committees as a representative for trainee anaesthetists and was actively involved in cross discipline groups aimed at enhancing the training of junior doctors and improving patient care. At Lewisham he is Lead for Quality & Clinical Governance for the directorate of Surgery.
In his spare time he plays an active role as Vice-Chairman within the London Society of Regional Anaesthetsia (LSoRA). This is a voluntary organisation that aims to promote awareness and education in Regional Anaesthesia. He believes very strongly in the holistic approach to pain and anxiety control in medicine.
