Dr Motherway qualified from UCC in 1985. She completed her training in Anaesthesia in Ireland in 1996. She subsequently completed over two years training in Intensive Care Medicines in Australia and became a Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care as it then was in Australia. She took up a consultant post in Anaesthesia and intensive Care in University Hospital Limerick in 1999 is the Clinical Lead in Organ Donation. Her Clinical interests include Ophthalmic Anaesthesia, Intensive Care medicine, and RRRT . She has a particular interest in training and is a past Chair of the National Training Committee of the College of Anaesthetists. She is the immediate past President of the Intensive Care Society of Ireland
