Paul Myles is Director of Research in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, and Head of Department at Monash University, Australia.

He is an Australian National Health and Medical Research Council Leadership Fellow, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science, and member of the US National Academy of Medicine.

Paul is a member of the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Anaesthesia, and Anesthesiology. He has published more than 400 papers, and been awarded more than 30 NHMRC grants totalling more than $60 million.

The main focus of his research has been on patient quality of recovery, avoidance of postoperative complications, and large multicentre trials in anaesthesia
