Chris trained and graduated in Newcastle upon Tyne and became a Consultant Anaesthetist at Freeman Hospital in 1997. His clinical week includes hepatobiliary surgery (including liver and pancreatic transplantation), urology and vascular surgery. He has extensive experience in developing preassement pathways and is clinical lead for a clinic assessing 1600 patients/month. This incorporates a cardiopulmonary exercise testing service performing 40-45 tests/wk. He remains research active and has recently secured grant funding from the NIAA (RCOA /BJA) to develop prehabilitative training in the elderly surgical patient. Chris’s overall work program aims to promote the transformation of the anaesthetist into the broader base of perioperative clinician.
