Dr Duminda N Wijeysundera is a Professor in the Department of Anaesthesia and the Institute of Health Policy Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, and a Staff Anesthesiologist at St Michael’s Hospital.

In addition, he is a Scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St Michael’s Hospital, and an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences in Toronto, Ontario. Duminda holds the Endowed Chair in Translational Anesthesiology Research at St Michael’s Hospital and University of Toronto. His research programme, which aims to prevent complications following major surgery, has generated more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and received peer-reviewed funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, and the Ontario government.

Duminda is also a member of the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association Task Force on Practice Guidelines, as well as an editorial board member of the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia, Anesthesiology and Circulation.
