Jonathan Wilson FRCA
Consultant Anaesthetist at York Hospital since April 1995. Undergraduate training at St.Andrews and Manchester Universities. Anaesthetic training in the Royal Army Medical Corps, then Yorkshire Registrar and Senior Registrar rotations.
My 18 years as a Consultant Anaesthetist I have had research interests in improving outcomes for high-risk surgical patients, particularly with regard to strategies of optimising oxygen delivery and tissue perfusion, choice of fluids for optimisation, and identification of high-risk patients through cardio-pulmonary exercise testing.
Over the last 11 years I have established a cardio-pulmonary exercise testing service to assess risk in patients scheduled for major surgery. I have just been Chief Investigator for a local double-blind RCT comparing crystalloid to starch colloid for goal-directed fluid therapy in colorectal surgery.
